Question

My computer has "internet exployer has stopped working a problem caused the program to stop working correctly." Then "windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available." Then " I E was closed to help protect your computer data execution, prevention has closed I E" I'm 66 years young and try to be computer litterate !! I can't figure this one out. Please solve in very easy instructions.     Thanks for your help !!!

So which version of IE do you have. (goto Help > About to see that)

And, are you not able to use IE to browser to websites at all. Or is it that websites open properly but after sometime IE hangs

I have version8.0.6001.187021c (Thanks for telling me where to find it !)

It does open properly and after some time IE hangs.

It is Vista. How do I find out if it is /xp?

Hello Detta !! .. You are most welcome.

Mostly, IE 8 is the problem !!! There are lot of bugs in IE which makes it very slow and crashes for many websites. I will give you a better solution. Just download this latest version of firefox. It also has Flash built in !!. And it is super fast compared to IE and will hardly ever crash. Please click here :

When you get a message box, just RUN it.

When you receive the file fully, it will start installation.


After installed. Restart your computer.


Then goto start > type firefox.exe in search and press enter.

 

Then a firefox window will open up. Browser your interet from there and let me know if it crashes or not.

You need to close all IE windows. Even this one from which you are talking to me.

Then open a firefox window and from there get back to me.

To get back to me, you just need to open your email and reply to this message by pressing on REPLY. Alternately you can login to Justanswer.com again and then goto your questions and reply to this question.
