Question

I have a 2001 Pontiac grand am se and i am having a problem with the ABS, Trac, and Service light on for a while, it seem to have happen when i got my tires balanced a about 2 years ago. I have went to a mechanic and auto zone to see if they can read the code, and they were unsuccessful. I can't get my inspection bc it fails the emission test can you please tell me what the problem is. Thank you in advance.

Hello XXXXXXXX, unfortunately there is no way to tell you exactly what is wrong with your vehicle. Autozone could not get the code likely because it needs to be scanned by a scantool that can read brake control module codes. Your best bet would be to see if a dealer will tell you what all the codes are, then I could help you further. In any case it is likely a wheel speed sensor is bad causing the ABS, and traction light to come on but the service engine light is likely on due to other reasons, impossible to know without codes.
