Question

I want to cover the remaining exposed portion of a concrete block foundation that will not have backfill against it. I don't really need to use stucco but just want to hide the block. What should I use and how would I apply it? Just cement?

Answer

Hi and thanks for using justAnswer.com
Use a mortar called stucco mix. Apply it with a finishing trowel about one quarter inch thick. Once applied, let it set about 10-15 minutes; then polish it smooth with the finishing trowel. Last dampen the surface,in small sections, with a spray bottle, and polish again.

Before I accept.....Let me clarify...is there any other material other than stucco mix (like regular mortar) and is there any surface preparation?

Accepted Answer

Stucco mix is stickier than straight mortar, which has more sand and tends to fall off in a vertical application.
Surface prep- power wash to remove any algae and dirt.
