25 hp, 2 cylinder, 4 cycle engine, tiller operated.
1998 was the first year that I could find a Four Stroke Yamaha 25hp, They don't list one for 1994....F25ESHW is a 1998 and what the picture is...
1- remove the shift rod connection jam nut and turn the long rod to rod connecting nut up just until it releases the shift rod # 59 in the diagram. The connector is on the front of the engine just above the leading edge of the lower unit...
2- remove the four bolts holding the lower unit to the exhaust housing
3- the lower unit should come off the exhaust housing by shaking a little and lowering down...
4- the water pump is straight forward with 4 bolts holding it down..simply remove the pieces and replace the impeller and return the pieces as you took them off
5- When returning the lowerunit, lift the unit into the exhaust housing and only install one bolt for now, attach the shift rod as you found it and then put the other bolts into the unit....should you have to remove the unit for some reason it is easier if only on with one or two bolts....the only time there needs to be all the bolts in the lower unit is when the motor is being used in the lake. Other wise test the waterpump and shifting with just two bolts holding the lowerunit on and a flushette attachment....
A rather simple procedure and rewarding not only in money savings but accomplishment....Also consider changing the lowerunit oil while changing the water pump impeller kit....
