I have a 2000 BMW 323i and it's leaking a lot of oil. I'm not sure why. I just replaced the valve cover gaskett thinking that was the problem and that's not it. The oil is coming from the top of the engine and by looking at it, it's not the drain plug. What do you suppose the problem could be?

Where do you see the oil dripping from?

How many miles does your car have?

It's coming from the top of the engine and it settles half way on the engine block. It has 170,000 miles

On which side of the motor do you see the leak?

if you are looking at the engine it's on the drivers side.

Have you checked if it could be comming from the oil filter cap?

The Vanos pressure feed line is a common leak, so are the valves on the back side of the oil filter housing.

Also the oil drain hose from the bottom of the crank venting valve will crack and leak.

I think it could be vanos pressure feed line

If it is just the feed line, I think the part costs about $75 plus about $150 labor.
