Question

I have a 2009 deisel Jetta, nice car, except.... I can't stand the drift or tracking of car at highway speeds. It doesn't occur in any consistant way. The car constantly needs correction on a seemingly fine road, but it varies. It is worse the faster I drive, typically 65 or higher. Of course, cross wind makes it worse, but I feel like I am driving a van wnen it is windy. The dealer service will not drive the car above the speed limit and says I am not used to EPS. It does not just seem to do this very much around the area I live, but when I go on longer trips I experiance a lot of this problem and I really am not happy with steering quality. Can there be something wrong or is it just me.

Answer

If your suspicious of there being something wrong with your car your best bet would be to take it to a shop that you trust and have them inspect it for you. Some times when your car is under warranty the dealer will say there is nothing wrong with your car so once your warranty is up you have to pay for the repair yourself. If you explain to an other shop that your car is under warranty and you think there is a problem they can write you a repair quote. Hope this helps and have a nice day.

A second opinion is good advice. I was hoping fo more info specific to electric steering or what could cause something like this. Since this is a new model this year with the clean deisel technology could there be some engineering issue of engine/suspension harmonics or something they haven't ironed out. What would another repair station check?

Accepted Answer

They could check to make sure the electrical power steering is working correctly for you. Tinker39929.7927424769
