I would not recommend allowing other cats around the kittens until at least 4 weeks of age and then just the father if you want. Should only be done under supervision because some males will kill kittens. There is no way to know. Also, you don't want him bringing any diseases to the kittens etc.
No, as far as the eyes staying closed. Ears open around 7-10 days and the eyes open around 10-14 days. The length of their hair has nothing to do with it.
