Answer

Hi XXXXXXXXXX,

Thank you for the question. Yahoo mail is slightly unique from other mail providers because they do not provide a POP server to use, as they require you to use their mail client (through the web mail page). There are steps that can be taken to view your Yahoo mail in other mail clients such as Thunderbird, but there are risks involved as Yahoo does not typically allow this kind of access. Following these steps may result in termination of your account, but the technology exists that will allow for this setup if absolutely necessary. Yahoo also offers Yahoo! mail Plus for $20 a year, which will provide you with access to the POP server so that you can set this up without the risk of account termination. The steps can be found here, but I would recommend purchasing Yahoo! Mail Plus here. Please let me know if you have any questions and I will be happy to assist further. Thanks again!

What other free email can I use with thunderbird?

Answer

Thanks for the quick reply. There are a good number of free mail providers that you can use with Thunderbird. I use Gmail. You can also use hotmail. Also, it is likely that your internet service provider (ie - Comcast, Charter, etc..) offers you a free email account that can be set up for access using Thunderbird. I use Comcast as my internet provider, and also use Thunderbird to access my Comcast mail account. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks again!
