Question

I was typing an e-mail the other nite and my computer froze. I cut the power at the power strip and restarted the computer. It came back on and the screen was blue and it said I made a fatal computer error. All my data was lost and now my computer has started from the beginning like it was when I first got it about 3 years ago. Can I get my data back?

The computer is working again but everything is like it was when I first got the computer. I can't find the booklets or the discc that came with my computer. Is there any way I can get another, I bought it from Best Buy about three years ago I think, and they gave a 1-800 number to call.

I have have a windows vista. I tried to restore everything but the computer was asking me if I wanted to transfer my information from my old computer to my new one. This is the only one I have.

Accepted Answer

Hmm that is actually very weird, you should be able to restore the computer to before this happened by going to:

Start
All Programs
Accessories
System Tool's
System Restore

Then once it opens up click Next

Then click Restore my computer to an earlier time and it will bring up a calander type thing, select a Bold date and click next. The computer will restart back to the settings when it was working, and you wont lose any data. If your still having the same problem, I would advise to take out the hard drive on the computer and take it to a local computer shop or a data recovery center if the data is unreplaceable. That way they can get all the information off of it and atleast save it to either some cds or a flash drive if you have one.

If you need anymore help please ask, otherwise have a good night and god bless! Smile
