Answer
Hi,
Thanks for your question.
This can be a difficult question to answer as it does depend somewhat on where you live - more urban vs. suburban city.
First, the vet will need to see the rabbit for a pre-surgical physical exam and this most likely will cost between $30-50. This is very important as your rabbit is a bit older so we want to make sure there are no problems beforehand.
The vet may want to take a pre-op blood sample before hand which price will vary (if they do it in the the hospital or send it out). There will then be the surgery cost and medicine to go home (pain meds).
The best thing to do would be to contact a vet who sees rabbits to get an accurate quote from them. You can search
www.rabbit.org
and
www.aemv.org
for rabbits who sees vets.
In some places check with your local animal shelter as they sometimes offer low cost neutering services.
It's great that you want to have your rabbit neutered as this will help with many behavioral issues like aggression, urine spraying etc.
If you have any more questions, please let me know.
