Question

I recently asked some questions reguarding transfering SSI from state to state and need one more question answered which I have not been able to pin down anywhere. I receive two checks monthly, one of which I beleive is what the state of California puts in toward the total sum awarded me. Sometimes I receive a letter telling me I will be receiving more or less money because the state of California will be changing what they will be putting in. Does this mean that I could be getting less or more money when I move to the state of Oregon? I know that I don't have to reapply, but really do need to know if there is a difference in the amount SSI awards depending on the state you live in, and if so what the difference is between California and Oregon.

Good morning,

While you will need to re-apply for Medi-Caid when you get to Oregon, my research shows that your SSI entitlement comes from the federal government, not the state of CA and therefore you should not expect that to change.

Here is a link to a good site that explains all abut SSI: http://www.ultimatedisabilityguide.com/ssi.html

I wish you the best in your move.
