Yes, I believe so. In the old days it was called degaussing and every tube type TV had one built it. what has happened is the metal around the screen has become magnetized. What needs to happen is the metal needs to be demagnetized. I am not sure if you will find a degausser or not today, but if you can you can use that. Another item you can use is a soldering GUN. I have done this in a pinch. Either way, this is what you do. obviously with the soldering GUN, be carefule of the tip as it gets hot. With either unit, start with the laptop on and place the degausser/GUN flat but not touching the screen in the middle, press the button and slowly in a clockwise motion in small to larger circles as you slowly move away from the screen and when you get about a foot away from the screen, turn the degausser/GUN perpendicular or turn 90 degrees to the screen the foot away and turn it off. The screen should be OK now. Brad
