Question

When my husband visited the doctor with severe flu symptoms he had his blood checked and his white blood count was around 1400? He was given an antibiotic and cough medicine. Should he have his blood checked again?

Viral infection can cause decrease in white blood cell count.

It should come back to normal when the infection is over.

He should have a review to see whether it has come back to normal level.
