1. What areas of your work in the field so you find most rewarding? A: I find that helping people with illnesses such as depression is most rewarding. I also recently cured a little girl's nightmares after one session; that was rewarding. I think just helping people be happier. 2. What advice would you give someone who might be considering the psychology as a possible career? A: seek personal counseling if you are interested in being a counselor. It makes all the difference to know yourself well, and to go through the process themselves.3. Why did you choose your particular field of psychology as a career? A: From when I was 12 years old, I wanted to help people work through their probelms. What I learned later, is that is a sign that I needed help :-) I worked through that, to become very successful at being a therapist.4. How do you feel about the earnings in psychology? A: I resent that we aren't paid more for years of schooling and building our expertise. I save lives on a daily basis, but someone who throws a basketball in a little hole makes millions. I don't like that!5. What sort of courses did you take in school? Did you find those courses difficult? A: I earned a BA in PSychology, an MS in Counseling and a PhD in Psychology. I took courses in the theory and practice of both psychology and counseling. I did not find courses difficult-- challenging, but not difficult.6. What type of situations do you run into as a psychologist? A: I run into all sorts of different situations in my daily practice. I see children who have been abused. I see teens who do drugs and are doing poorly in school, couples who are fighting all the time, people who are sad, have serious mental illnesses such as bipolar disorder or schizophrenia. 7. Is this job emotionally tough? Physically? A: It is not generally emotionally tough -- you learn how to work past that after you do this for awhile, but every once and awhile, I do come across a particularly sad situation that stays with me. It is physically tough to sit all day. I don't get enough exercise!
