Question

I am in the process of divorcing my husband of 30 years. He is a well paid physician and we have 10 biological children together. I have been a stay at home mom for the entire marriage. I was wondering if I will still have any spousal support if I remarry. My attorney feels I'm entitled to it. ~~ Thank you!!

My(hopefully soon to be ex) husband is very upset to reveal his discoveries. I filed for divorce almost a year ago and he has yet to finish the discoveries. I will be happy to use a mediator to decide the outcome of the monetary situation.

Accepted Answer

Hello,

Typically spousal support terminates upon death or remarriage of the spouse. This is true even in the case of permanent spousal support. It would continue after remarriage only if it specifically states in the spousal support agreement or order that spousal support would continue after remarriage.
