Question

I TOOK MY DOG TO THE VET YESTERDAY BECAUSE SHE WAS NOT ACTING RIGHT AND WHINING. i THOUGHT MAYBE SOMETHING MIGHT BE WRONG WITH HER BACK OR HIP, BUT THE VET SEEMS TO THINK IT IS INTESTINAL. sHE PUT HER ON A SPECIAL DIET OF CHICKEN AND RICE FOR THREE DAYS. SHE IS GOING TO THE BATHROOM ALRIGHT. WHEN SHOULD I TAKE HER BACK IF SHE CONTINUES NOT ACTIG RIGHT AND SHOULD I DEMAND X-RAYS AT LEAST?

Answer

Hello,
I would say within 24 hours. Tough call on x-rays since you are not actually observing any digestive tract symptoms like vomiting or diarrhea. You may be better off with a basic blood test for an overall health assessment, and a trial with some pain medication just to be safe. Tramadol, a wonderful oral pain medication, would be worth inquiring about. Tough situation since there are no specific symptoms to work with.
Now, if there is a particular area of her body that is hypersensitivity to touch, then you know exactly where to x-rays. A limp? tense on palpation of the abdomen? etc....

Hope that helps
Good Luck
I wish the best for both you and your pet. Please let me know if I can be of any further assistance.
