Question

I have a kenmore 110.66922500 dryer with a 4 prong plug, but the apt. I just moved into has a 3 prong outlet. I bought a 3 prong cord to swap out with, but I am concerned about doing it wrong and killing somebody. I know the center wire goes to the center terminal and the right and left wires are interchangable after that. What I am concerned about is the extra ground wire that the 4 wire has that my new 3 wire doesnt. I don't see a ground strap on the dryer, like many pictures I have seen online. Any advice?

Accepted Answer

yeah you need to connect a ground wire from your middle terminal (neutral) to the chassis or grounding block if your machine has a grounding block.
