Already Tried:
Nothing! I am clueless. I have to scan a bunch of kids' work for a project due in 1 hour. I've scanned it and noticed that all of the images appeared to have a stripe when viewed online. I printed one to be sure--yep.

Info Request

Hi there,

How are you scanning the document? Using the glass or the document feeder?

Document feeder. (I have 19 images to scan.)

Answer

Can you please try scanning by placing an image on the glass to see if you still get a line?

If you do not get a line, please make sure you clean the little strip of glass on the left-hand side gently with some window cleaner and a soft cloth. This is usually caused by dirt or whiteout on a page that was scanned.

Hope this helps!

Brandon, while I was waiting, I tried to scan on the glass, but the computer said it couldn't complete the request.

What is going on??

Info Request

Are you using the same method to scan on the glass as you do with the document feeder? Do you use the buttons on the printer or use your computer to initiate the scan?

What operating system do you have (XP, Vista) and what software are you using for scanning?

Yes--I pressed the scan button. I tried to pull up the program to scan through the computer, but was not successful today. (Naturally, I'm in a rush. Typical, huh?)

What program are you using to scan with? Photoshop? The Canon software?

I'm busted! Can you tell I'm not the computer genius in our family?

It has to be Canon, since we don't use Photoshop. I recall using Camera Wizard (?) sometimes, but can't recall if it's been here, or on the job. When I tried to pull up a scanner, I had trouble this time.

By the way, I cleaned that glass strip scanned 1 picture. It seems to be better. I'm going to test some others.

Accepted Answer

It's ok. You are probably using the Camera and Scanner Wizard included with the system. Perhaps there is a setting on the front of the printer that you might need to set to tell it to use the glass (although that's highly unlikely). If the document feeder is working for you, stick with that.

Let me know if you have any other troubles.

Brandon
