Hi there!

The number of nickels is "x".

The dimes are 6 + x.

The quarters are 3(6+x) = 18 + 3x

Add up the values:

0.05x + 0.1(6+x) + 0.25*3(6+x) = 11.4

Simplify:

0.05x + 0.6 + 0.1x + 4.5 + 0.75x = 11.4

Combine terms:

0.9x + 5.1 = 11.4

Subtract 5.1:

0.9x = 6.3

Divide by 0.9:

x = 7

Now get the others:

x+6 = 13

3(x+6) = 39

So:

7 nickels, 13 dimes, 39 quarters

Let me know if you have any questions, and if you're all set, thanks for accepting,

Scott
