Question

my girlfriends lovebird loves to rub her head on my ears and sounds like a purring cat. It is as though her feathers are vibrating. My girlfriend doesn't believe me because Lola (that's the birds name) does not act that way around her. and is she nibbling me or is she cleaning me?

Answer

Hello,

Apparently, Lola really likes you. She is courting you. Perhaps you smell good to her, or she likes the sound of your voice. This behavior is fairly common in birds. They're raised around humans and will shower their affections on them. Besides cuddling and grooming, some birds also try to feed their human companions. Others will court toys by feeding and rubbing on them. As long as the behavior doesn't bother you, it doesn't present a problem. If you have more questions about this, just let me know by clicking on REPLY. Animals are pretty good judges of character, so you should be flattered by Lola's attention.
