Hi again,
(a)
Ho: p ≤ 0.5
Ha: p > 0.5
phat = 38/60 = 0.63
test statistic = (phat - p)/sqrt(p(1-p)/n) = (0.63 - 0.5)/sqrt(0.5(1-0.5)/60) = 2.0656
critical value = 1.6449
decision rule: Reject Ho if z > 1.6449
We reject the null hypothesis since the test statistic is greater than the critical value. We have sufficient evidence to conclude that the coin is biased toward heads.
p-value = 0.0194
p-value is smaller than 0.1. This also supports our decision.
