Question

i have a rheem central unit and the heater keeps kicking off, then i have to pop the upper panel and hit the reset pin button on the top of a little safety valve thing . i thought that was some kind of spark arrestor thing , so i vaccumed the burners area out and it still kicks off after about an hour.. then i hit the reset button and it kicks right back on .please advise

Sounds like your roll out switch is tripping or high limit device where is this located on your furnace is it down low at about the burner high or is it more near where the exhaust gases exit the furnace

just above the burner and to the left ---about 6 inches from pilot light

Thats the roll out switch check the flue of the furnace make sure that the furnace is clean and also the chimney has clear path. Roll out switch is always related to draft problem
