Info Request

do you feel any heat at all and is this an electric or gas dryer?

238 days and 21 hours ago.

Reply

No i dont feel any heat......it is a gas dryer ...

Posted by appliance Doc 238 days and 21 hours ago.

Answer

ok so if you aren't getting any heat whatsoever then chances are you have a bad thermal fuse. Pull the dryer out and take the lower back panel off. Near the bottom middle there is a little white flat plastic device with 2 wires going to it. This is the thermal fuse. Check to make sure this part has continuity and if it doesn't then go to your local appliance parts store and replace it.

238 days and 21 hours ago.

Reply

how do i check for the continuity ?

Posted by appliance Doc 238 days and 21 hours ago.

Answer

you will need a multimeter, if you don't have one just buy the fuse and replace it as it's way cheaper then buying a multimeter just to test to see if the part is bad.

238 days and 21 hours ago.

Reply

hold on let me check where the thermal fuse is ..i want to confirm with you b4 buying it ...thx

Posted by appliance Doc 238 days and 21 hours ago.

Answer

no problem but without a mutlitmeter I don't know how you are going to check it aside from bypassing it to test it.

238 days and 20 hours ago.

Reply

yes i did see a small white strip ..is that the thermal fuse ....and do i have to solder it if i buy new one ,,,

Posted by appliance Doc 238 days and 20 hours ago.

Answer

yes the small white strip that has 2 wires going to it is the fuse--- should only be held in by 1 screws. There is no soldering just remove the screw and unplug the wires then you can put in the new fuse

238 days and 20 hours ago.

Reply

yes the thermal fuse is just connected with one screw..but the wires holding it how shld i remove it ..

Posted by appliance Doc 238 days and 20 hours ago.

Answer

they just pull off. They are just very tight.

238 days and 20 hours ago.

Reply

oh great ..let me pull them out and then go and buy a thermal fuse ..where would i get the thermal fuse ....

Posted by appliance Doc 238 days and 20 hours ago.

Answer

you have to buy them from a local appliance parts store or order it through sears. This is not a part that comes from a hardware store.

238 days and 20 hours ago.

Reply

OK ..will get back to you once i install it ...thx

Posted by appliance Doc 238 days and 20 hours ago.

Answer

you can always test it by removing the 2 wires off and connecting the wires to each other. That will bypass the fuse for testing to make sure what I'm telling you will fix it.

238 days and 12 hours ago.

Reply

But isnt that a bit risky w/o the fuse ...i had gone to sears and homedepot to find this..but couldnt get it ...I was told that there is a sears hardware store which will be open on Monday ..i will get the fuse and test it ..will keep u posted ....

238 days and 12 hours ago.

Reply

and also i cld figure out my model number ..it is

Kenmore 80 Series

Model : 110.72822100

Posted by appliance Doc 238 days and 10 hours ago.

Answer

you can't get the part at a home depot and yes it's dangerous to keep it with the fuse bypassed, but you can do it just for testing purposes.

236 days and 19 hours ago.

Reply

I will be getting the part today arnd 5:00 pm EST. If you can be around at 5:30-7:00 I would update you with the result and if not fixed by replacing the thermal fuse ..help me to trouble shoot further ..

Answer

ok good luck

236 days and 14 hours ago.

Reply

it didnt work ....

Posted by appliance Doc 236 days and 14 hours ago.

Answer

ok well for any other problems you are going to need a multimeter to check voltages to see where it's being lost.

236 days and 14 hours ago.

Reply

do you think it can be a problem with the power cord ..

Posted by appliance Doc 236 days and 14 hours ago.

Answer

deffinately not, a gas dryer only has 120V so it wouldn't even run if there was a problem with the cord.

and?

236 days and 14 hours ago.

Reply

did u get to the link ...check the wiring section what it says ,,,

Wiring
A common problem is for the main wiring connection from the house, at the dryer, to burn and break its connection. Because the dryer can still tumble with partial power, the connection may be only partially defective. You may need to replace both the power cord to the dryer and the terminal block inside the dryer that the wire is attached to.

Posted by appliance Doc 236 days and 14 hours ago.

Answer

yes that is for an ELECTRIC dryer not a GAS

236 days and 14 hours ago.

oh ok ..great ..let me get the multimeter from my friend tomm ..can you meet me same time maybe arnd 7:00pm..thx for the help

Answer
