Question

I cracked my water pump mount - The lower timing case cover - pretty bad.. I have the parts but anyhting specific I need to purchase ahead of time. I have a few gaskets and the bolts for the water pump, however I know these cars aren't exactly nice under the hood

Already Tried:
I took it all apart (Radiator, pump, fan etc...) and now is the task of getting the engine out, intake off, AC comprssor off etc

Hi San Diego 740i...I'm from San Diego too. :)

I don't believe it's necessary to remove the engine to replace the lower timing cover, but if you find it easier, then by all means, go for it. I'm also pretty sure you don't need to remove the intake. I'm more familiar with this job on E38s, however.

Your best bet as far as ordering parts would be to call a dealership of your choice and ask to talk to the back counter parts guys. They're the ones who deal with the techs, and they would be more familiar with what gaskets you'll need than front counter guys who sell more oil changes, accessories, etc.

I can't seem to get my repair instructions to come up, so give me a little bit and I'll try to get you a list. I want to look at the repair instructions to make sure I don't miss anything big. I have to say, even when we do this job in the shop, there are usually a couple little parts that we break or forget to order and have to wait 24 hours to get. It's never easy!
