Question

I have a 2008 Cadillac Escalade and I want to play MP3s on CDs that I put into the CD player. When I do, it recognizes some songs but not others and then says "disc error." I'd like to know if there is a particular format that it is expecting or what I can do to help make the CD what it wants.

Optional Information

2008 Cadillac Escalade

Already Tried:
I have burned my MP3s on a CD-R and chose the "master write once" option (the one that writes everything and won't let you come back and add more. I stored the MP3s in folders, which represented the artists' names and within each artist folder I had different folders for each album. The Escalade's touch screen system told me that it was scanning the CD and just at the end it said "disc error." It does recognize some of the folders and MP3s (artist, album, and title info), but for others it will play them, but it says "Unknown" for artist, album, title.

Answer

Hello The RamboTX the format that it will only read is cd-r/rw i will leave some information cd formatting for you below.

MP3/CD Formatting Information for MP3/CD Radios
The MP3/CD equipped radios will play standard audio CDs, and MP3/WMA files that were recorded on a CD-R or CD-RW disc. Customers who record their own music CDs should be aware of the following:

• The radio will only play audio from a CD-R/RW, it cannot record audio.

• Standard audio and MP3/WMA files should not be mixed on a disc.

• Song title, artist name, and album can display when files are recorded using ID3 tags version 1 and 2.

• Long file, folder, or playlist names, or a combination of a large number of files and folders, or playlists can cause the player to be unable to play up to the maximum number of files, folders, playlists, or sessions.

• The radio supports multi-session discs, but only the files from the last session will be played

One clarification: What is the "maximum number of files [and] folders" (as listed in your last bullet point)?

Also, is the player capable of showing album art?

Thanks.

Accepted Answer

I believe that number of files and folder they are talking about would be if you were using an Mp3 player from the files that you have downloaded. As far as i know it is not set up for showing any type of album art. They may decide to incorporate into newer models.
