having problems with dog being shot on own property . any info very helpful . have no trespasing posted also beware of dog. on privet property. also no leash law in Persia TN .thank you for your time.

When an person owns land, the landowner only owes a reasonable duty of care to those who are tresspassers and not invitees, with the exception of law enforcement personnel. Thus, anyone coming onto your posted land, while they have a right to defend themselves, can be sued for tresspassing and for any damages caused by their tresspassing. Since dogs are considered property under the law, all you would get for the dog is the actual value of the dog.
