There is no specific time that an insurance company must accept or deny a claim. The insurance company has the discretion to examine the facts surrounding the death and the tender of the claim. The insurance company then has the ability to determine whether an investigation must be undertaken. The insurance company has a "reasonable" amount of time in which to do this. What the law considers reasonable will depend on the facts of the case and what needs to happen in order to accept or deny the claim.
