Answer

Hi, I can help you with this. In answer to your question, yes there are "locks" or actually clips that hold the upper and lower covers together. This is not the best picture but "A" represents the covers. as you can see the lower one has 4 tabs sticking up, you must press in on the lower cover to release these tabs. and in the very rear of the upper cover you must press in on the upper cover to release 2 tabs 1 on each side. Be careful with there as they are easy to break.

what do you mean by press in on lower cover? Is it towards steering column or in what direction? can you explain a little more?

Accepted Answer

Sitting in the drivers seat, turn the steering wheel so that the top of it is facing directly to the left, now press away from you (or in) on the part of the lower cover you can see thru the opening of the steering wheel where it meets the upper cover. pull apart slightly, repeat on the other side by turning wheel to the right. and repeat on both sides also.

Derrick,

you are great........I was able to open the panels and fix the switch. It was difficult initially to open and some how I made all tries as you explained and finally complted my work.I could save lot of bugs in this recession. The mechanic told that will take an hour and he will charge $100.00. I knew it will not take more than 20 minutes and searched in the internet.I was able to fix in 10 minutes after opening the panels.

something to say: Initially I thought this was a fake site bcuz I have gone through some reviews of other sites where many have complained that after taking the money, they don't reply. I thought for a while and finally decided to give credit card details and my guess was correct.

I never gave reviews to any site in my life, just used to shop online and neglected the review mails. Is there any link or place where I could give my reviews?. This will really help others to trust this site.

Thanks a lot,

sri krishna

Info Request

Hi, this site is great. It is based completely on the honour system which turns out still works well even now during these times. What is nice is even though you have to deposit money to see the answer you don't have to pay unless the answer is right and works for you (thanks for the accept by the way). I am glad you were able to get it apart, it's hard to explain and they are definetly a pain to take off with out breaking. This is not the proper method but after doing probobly 500 recalls that require removing them I have found that to be the easiest way.
As far as reviews for the site, I am still fairly new here myself and know that you can do it but I am not positive of how. The administrator is extremely helpful and quick to respond, I will also do a little research myself and see what I can find for you.
Thank you once again, welcome, and feel free to ask for me for any future questions. -Derrick-
