Hello veronica - Thank you for using Just Answer.
There are so many different customs for weddings and every day life from other countries that we are not accustomed to. I have never heard of someone taking the first name instead of the last name. If your fiancee from Pakistan says that if this s the custom, then I would take his word for it, but I would also tell him you would rather take his surname since that is an American custom. I have found nothing on websites that say you should take his first name instead of his last name. I have spoken with people in my neighborhood and they have never heard of this either. The choice is yours and your fiancee. I feel I have to advise you that you will have no rights as a wife and barely any rights as a female if you go to Pakistan. Good Luck to you! Renee
