Question
I want to use the Vortec style heads on my 350. I have heard about and read several articles that say you can install the Comp Cams Beehive springs in place of the stock springs. They claim this does not require machine work and can allow cam lifts over .500

Hi Tommy,I checked comp cams info and according to them the heads MAY NOT require machining,as an engine builder and machinist I always check the heads installed to make sure you have the proper spring coil gap so as not to have coil bind in the higher rpms.Any other changes to the heads(valve seat work, different valves etc)could cause problems with coil bind.
