Hello,

Hamsters easily get infections when they have wounds. You can decrease the chances of that happening by cleaning the wound with Betadine (available in the first aid section at discount stores and pharmacies). Follow that with an application of plain Neopsorin. Repeat the Neosporin twice a day until healing is complete. Watch for signs of infection, such as swelling or increased redness. If that happens, you'll need to see a vet.

It's very important that you separate these two hamsters at once. Teddy bear hamsters are a variety of Syrian hamster. Syrians are solitary by nature. They get along with each other as babies, but as they mature, they become territorial and want to be alone. Fights between them become more and more serious as time passes. It's common for fights to the death to occur.
