My back went out yesterday and I am in severe pain today. I have the Medrol 4mg dospak to begin taking which always helps. My question is I took a 20 mg tablet of prednisone this a.m. at 5:30. Is it ok to begin the Medrol pack and should I take all 6 of them today. My pharmacist could not answer this question. thank you

Yes, you can begin the Medrol pack today. You can take all 6 today. Each tablet is only 4mg of prednisone. A total of 44mg of prednisone in one day is safe. We often prescribe up to 60mg of prednisone a day for acute pain or inflammation.
