Question

I have a 2005 Pacifica Touring. The right low-beam headlight keeps going out then usually coming back on by itself. The dealer mechanic said the base comes loose and needs to be pushed back on. Easier said than done, but I took the bulb base out myself by removing the screw that holds it in. I can't see anyway it can come loose on its own. The bulb is good, so what is going on with the low-beam?

John, I bought the car in 2005, but it was a program car with about 20,000 miles on it.

The reason i ask was that i seen alot of them where they were installed wrong to start with from some one else before. It should stay tight ,if you put the light bulb in first than turn the lock plastic nut, than plug in the bulb connector.

Thanks John. The bulb itself was very secure in the base, but I will check it. I wasn't aware there was a lock nut holding the bulb in and I guess that is why I couldn't get the bulb out of the holder. That metal bracket that has a screw holding it securely to the lamp reflector is a piece of work. Also very easy to work on (he says with tongue in cheek). Hope some engineer got an award for that mess.

That's ok John. You gave me insight into the construction of the light assembly. I can take it apart now and either replace the entire unit, or get this one working. Thanks for your help.

Jim
