Hi
What model car ?
What year ?
Did the roof work fully befor ?
If the car is a E36 BMW the lever releases both drive motors for the electric roof.if the level was pulled fully both motors are now disengaged and need re inserting.
make sure lever is pushed back into place &
remove the left rear boot trim and also the boot trim at the top of the boot to the left top corner this will allow access to both motors.if you look at the motor housings you will see that there are release levers fitted to both housings and you will see the motor drives which need to be re inserted back into there gearboxes .manual fold away the complete roof into the roof compartment.one motor is connected to the roof mechanism and the other is connected to the roof compartment cover lid this lid covers the roof when stowed away.
when the roof is stowed away push the motors back into there gearbox drives if the motor will not engage with the aid of a second person move the roof mech slightly up/down and the compartment lid this should allow the motors to engage into there gearboxes.after this is done close the boot lid.you should now see that the compartment lid is still slightly open this is normal.
Now press the electric roof switch to to the open position and then switch on the vehicle
ign and wait for a few seconds if the reset works you should see the compartment lid close and the windows raise.after this if all is working ok the roof should work ok.
