Question

5 yr. old male british shorthair; indoor with 1 other female scottish fold....recently noticed some fur loss at temples just in front of ear; slight bit on ear itself, and one ear has a little patch right behind it. skin underneath is not irritated. Vet tested inner ear matter, said there was slight bacteria, and I have been treating it for a week with the ointment from him, but I do not see any improvement on the fur.

Hello, Loudud6409

I wouldn't worry about it too much. The ointment will take care of the bacterial infection, but it will take some time for the fur to come back and thicken up again.

It can take several weeks to see any improvement with the hair. If he paws at the ears a lot, you can get a cone collar or inflatable collar at any pet supply store.

Sincerely, XXXXX
