Question

Just bought a 1994 F-150 Flareside-168K miles; seems to "slam" into gear sometimes, othertimes does OK; but after longer trips (>50 miles or more, or on return trip) it really starts "slamming", but at higher speeds (55-60 mph) when it would seem it should already be in the highest gear; it just did this last night, almost felt like it was trying to accelerate when I wasn't pressing the gas pedal any differently. Thanks, in advance for any advice Patti

Hi XXXXXXXX. Thank you for asking your question on JustAnswer. Have you checked the tranny fluid? If so what color is it?

Hi, John...Thanks for responding. Since sending my question, I have now taken it to an oil change place, and had the tranny fluid changed, but not flushed, gasket on the pan changed; it was an espresso-like color, now pink...it did show some improvement afterward, but is still revving up at high speeds. A friend has mentioned it could be a sensor on the transmission..forget the name...hope this is helpful in your advice...Thanks, Patti

Hi XXXXXXXX. Thank you for asking your question on JustAnswer. The problem sounds like the tranny is slipping. This occurs when the tranny has internal wear and is due for rebuild or replacement.

Thank you again for trusting us with your problem.
