Info Request

Has he been having normal bowel movements?

How long has this problem been going on for?

Is he in pain?

It must have started today, upto yesterday he had normal bowel movements. He is grumpy, but not crying.

Is the blood coming out in drops, over and over again, or is there just someblood on the skin around the anus?

whenever he sits there is a puddle of blood on the floor, a table spoonful or two; he is straining to get it out, it just seems to leak out. His nose is very cold.

Accepted Answer

I would strongly recommend having him seen by a veterinarian soon, since that sounds like a lot of blood coming from the rectum. Sometimes, irritation in the colon can cause some spots of blood, but not the amount you are describing. I'm worried that there may be a polyp or other problem in the colon that could be bleeding, or possibly some sharp object that was eaten that could be scraping the colon wall.

I would have to recommend having him seen by a vet soon!
