Question

We have had two littermates, Bogie and Lilly for a little over a year. They are about a year and 6-8 months. They have always been best of friends, playing all day, sleeping together all curled around each other, etc. Then we went out of town from Sunday evning around 6pm, until Tuesday around 11am. They had plenty of water, a self-feeder and two litterboxes. The first thing I noticed was the boxes had hardly been used and a lot of hair all over the carpets. They were very wary of us. Then for no reason Lilly was hissing, growling, ears flat to her head, crouching in the attack position and then full on attacking her poor brother Bogie. He would run and hide and then he would approach her and it would begin again. Then he would sit a ways off facing her and begin a low shrill yowling. They would be back to their previous selves for a few days and then out of the blue it would begin again. I tried putting a dab vanilla on each of them with disasterous results. HELP!!! Sandra

Optional Information

Breed: mixed

Already Tried:
Separating the cats for a while and trying to reintroduce them. Dabbing vanilla on each so they would have the same scent(bad outcome). Petting and loving on each and getting them involved in play and feeding together. They are good for a few days or hours and then on the outs again for no apparant reason except that Lilly seems to be the agressor.
