Question

I bought lenovo t500 in December 2008. It runs under Vista Ultimate. Recently, when I re boot my PC, I will get an icon says "Client Security Soluton" There was a problem contacting the TPM (security device) on this computer. It is possible that the anti-virus or firewall software is blocking the connection. A missing or disable device could also caused this problem". I never saw this response before iummediately after turning my PC power on. What is the issue here. Can I fix it so I will never get this message again. Thanks.

Nothing. I had no clue why it suddenly complained about the issue contacting the TPM which never happened in the last 2 months since I bought the PC.

Hi,

Please click on Start and type in msconfig in the 'Start Search' box; in the 'System Configuration' window that comes up, look for an entry named cssuath.exe and uncheck it ...hit 'Apply' thereafter, reboot and check if the error message still comes up now.

Keep me posted.

Regards

B. Rath,

The error is no longer appear when I re boot my PC. Now I wonder whether the CSS service was enabled with the original installation, If it does, I wonder why it started complaing now. By disabling the service, my concern is we just enable the service rather than fixing the actual problem. Thanks.

Answer

Not to worry ..CSS is an optional encryption feature issued by Lenovo, and unless you had manually signed up in it before, it should not affect the functioning of your system in any way.
