Answer

Hello,

I would be very hesitant to out guess a lawyer who is there speaking directly to the people involved and has the evidence in front of them.

However, if a client of mine was charged with Armed Robbery, especially multiple counts of it, probation is a pretty good deal to get.

Make sure that the prosecution is truly offering the probation BEFORE any guilty plea is made. Your lawyer can verify that information.

The cop has no real power in the courtroom. The judge is most likely to listen to the prosecutor's recommendations and to the Probation department's recommendations. If both of these people tell the judge that this kid should get probation, then it is likely that he will get approved for probation.

I think if he can get probation then that is a very good deal, and he should probably accept it. Unless you all think he can win if he goes to trial and pleads not guilty.

Good luck!
