Question

Hi!
I am a 30 year old male. I Often get small red bumps on my genital area (mainly aroun the gland area) after intercourse. This later changes to blister like spots, it also itches a bit during the time it takes to heal. After about a week it normally heals. My wife gets vaginal infections quite often. Can my condition be due to her infections? Is there any thing we can do to prefent this conditions or any medication that will stop it completely. Can you please help because this is really causing discomfort to our sex life.

Answer

Dear XXXXXXXXXXXXXX,

Looking at the symptoms mentioned I suspect Genital Herpes. These symptoms are characteristic of this. I advice that both of you get yourself tested for HPV by subjecting both to a smear test. Your doctor should be able to give the advice for the lab. Treating this without confirmation is not right so pl book an appointment before the weekend. A genital herpes can be easily treated with antibiotics and you need not be unnecessarily be worried and once you both are clear of these symptoms life will be smooth. Take care & God Bless.

with healthiest regards,
