Question

I was wronfully terminated from my job because I was suspected of "attempting" to steal... which I neither did or attempted to do. Every wrongful termination lawyer I have contacted is only interested in discrimination cases. Is there anyone out there for other wrongful termination cases including slander?

Accepted Answer

Wrongful termination cases are tough because an employer generally has the right to terminate an employee for any reason, or no reason at all - so long as it is not discriminatory. That's why you can't find many lawyers willing to spend the time and money on these.

You can file such an action with your state department of labor and employment. This is an administrative process, but you will have access to the department's attorneys and a hearing will be held, and if the employer is found liable, the department can award damages.
