Hi. Got a 1997 T-Bird V8 - ck engine light - three years on and off. always on now unless reset - I believe coded cataletic converter bank 2 - I know smell car exhaust while driving - especially if heater is on- 152,000 miles - really like the car - should I fix it - car is not worth anything - car is almost mint condtion inside and out. Should I consider going to a muffler shop verses dealer? and consider bypass exhaust or spend the money ? Nervous to drive car now because of fumes while driving. Smell the exhaust in my lungs several hours after driving. Kinda dumb I know -

Ok most likely it will need a converter. I would call and get a few price quotes. With the economy as bad as it is a lot of shops are real competetive. so call all the exhaust shops and the dealer.
