Question

I have a 4 year old Soft Coated Wheaten Terrior who chronically has an ear infection in her left ear. She is an avid swimmer and I religously clean her ears however her left ear is watery. Water has been leaking out since yesterday. It doesn't have odor, she is not sratching her ears just occassionally shaking her head. And she is not senstiive to my touching them or cleanign them. Also this morning both her eyes began twitching (like she is looking from side to side). Almost like a nervous tick but she hasn't stopped, it's been half a day. She doesn't have a fever and her nose is normal. What could this be? I can't afford to go to the vet for an expensive xray. What do you suggest? She has been completely healthy up until this point.

Answer

This sounds like vestibular syndrome and its linked to the ears.
You can read about this here

The blue power ear wash may help you and you can find it here
www.thriftyfun.com/tf157336.tip.html

You may find the problem is a food allergy causing the continual infections. You might be able to help this with changing the food. You can read about food allergies here
www.marvistavet.com/html/food_allergies.html

or this could be a pseudomonas infection you need to have cultured to find the med that will work
www.marvistavet.com/html/ear_infections.html

And if it all is just due to her swimming you can use swimmers ear dry to help dry the ears out after swimming and prevent infection.
Hope this helps you!
