Question

My wifes mother just died four months ago she owened a 1960s single wide trailer. This trailer is realy in bad shape and I think it will be hard to sell due to this. My mother inlaw had not worked for over 20 years and was on SSI and Access. The title for this crapy trailer had my wife listed as or so we transfered the title a week after she passed. We have been paying the lot rent for four months and this is not easy for us to do. My mother inlaw owes the bank about 10k and they are looking for money. Other than this trailer that is costing us money she owened nothing of value. How do we notify the bank that the estate is worthless. What forms need to be filled out.

Answer

You need to probate the estate of your mother-in-law by going to probate court in the county where she lived. The bank could take the trailer to satisfy the debt if there is no other property to satisfy the loan.
