Question

Daisy is a healthy 7 yr old female Border Collie mix. She is very active, but keeps reinjuring her left knee. The vet has given her an anti-inflam shot, and I've tried to keep her resting, but she chases squirrels and bunnies even in the backyard.

Should I be wrapping? How can I keep her still so that she gets well? HELP!!

Answer

This probably will not heal on its own if she has ruptured a ligament or moved her knee cap.
You can read about the problem and the ways to resolve it here
www.marvistavet.com/html/body_ruptured_anterior_cruciate_lig.html
You may need surgery to help her. Glucosamine including Cosequin or Glycoflex may help her too.
For resting care you may need to take her outside only on a leash for a bit.
Hope this helps you!
