Question

I have Windows Vista. I use Quattro Pro from Wordperfect Office X3 for some of my work product. I am getting "RUN TIME" errors. I have to do a regedit but it does not fix the problem. My program was working fine, but now all I get is this error message. What can I do to fix the problem. I really need Quattro Pro to work.

Optional Information

OS: Windows Vista; Browser: AOL

Already Tried:
I have tried reinstalling the program. I purchased another copy of the progam thinking maybe something was wrong with my disk. That did not change anything. I have had problem before, but regedit mixed the prblem, but it is not working this time. I am afraid to purchase and updated verison of Wordperfect X4 (for $159.00), because I do not know if it will work with Vista either.

Answer

Okay ..please try the following registry fix and check how it goes for you:

1) Close WP X3 first, then go to Start and type in regedit in the 'Start Search' box.
2) In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following path in the left panel:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corel\User Assistant\13\Recent Work\Quattro Pro\
3) Right click on the 'Quattro Pro' key and select 'Delete'.
4) Done that, close the Registry Editor and open Quattro Pro ..check if the issue still persists and keep me posted.

THAT DID NOT WORK. I STILL GET THE RUN TIME ERROR MESSAGE.

Answer

Okay ..now, download and install the Service Pack 2 update for WordPerfect Office X3 using the following link:
http://www.corel.com/servlet/Satellite/us/en/Content/1157481830155?pid=1166554021807
Done that, check if you still get the runtime errors in Quattro Pro thereafter ..if so, just repeat the steps I had mentioned earlier, once again ..let me know how it goes.

PS - Try not to type in your posts all in bold letters, please.

I downloaded the wordperfect office x3 service pack, but I am still getting the Run Time Error. I think there may be something wrong with my computer.

Answer

Hmm ..I presume you may have to carry out the registry fix i had mentioned, once again after applying the Service Pack 2 update, as follows:

1) Close WP X3 first, then go to Start and type in regedit in the 'Start Search' box.
2) In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following path in the left panel:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Corel\User Assistant\13\Recent Work\Quattro Pro\
3) Right click on the 'Quattro Pro' key and select 'Delete'.
4) Done that, close the Registry Editor and open Quattro Pro ..check if the issue still persists and keep me posted.

Please make sure to carry out the steps exactly as mentioned, and reboot your system thereafter ..just in case. If the issue still persists, I'll be opting out for the time being and let the other experts take over.

I was getting blue screens, so Dell had me wipe everything out and reinstall everything. Quattro Pro was working. I was doing updates on everything. I updated Corel with Wordperfect Office X3 Service Pack. That is when Quattro Pro quit working.I tried "Regedit" but it will not correct the problem. What do I need to do to fix this problem. I really need this program.

Answer

As a another possible solution to your issue, let's try carrying out a system restore of your computer and check how it goes, following the enlisted steps:
1) Go to Start > All Programs > Accessories > System Tools, then click on System Restore in the pop-down list.
2) In the System Restore window, select the Choose a different restore point option, and click on Next.
3) In the list of available Restore Points that comes up, choose a date & time Quattro Pro was working all right, and click Next.
4) Now follow the instructions accordingly to restore your computer back to the date & time you specified, then reboot and check if the issue persists now as well.

Let me know how it goes.

I did the system restore with serval different dates, but it did not fix the proble. Is there anyway to remove the Corel WordPerfect Office X3 Service Pack 2 from my computer. I think that is what is causing the problem, because it was working before I did the update.

Answer

Okay ..please navigate to Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features, and check if the SP2 update for WordPerfect is listed in the programs' list that comes up. If so, just select it and click 'Uninstall/Change' at the top in order to uninstall it accordingly ..let me know how you get on.

I uninstalled the updates but it did not change anything. I am still getting the Run Time Error. What else can we try?

Posted by B.Rath 347 days and 6 hours ago.

Answer

All right ..there's one more thing we should try, as follows:
First off, please download and install the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility using the following link:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301
Done that, look for and remove any trace of Corel WordPerfect Office X3 present in your system, using the utility.
Now, reinstall the program once again and check if the runtime error still persists. If so, you might as well have to upgrade to Corel WordPerfect X4 thereafter.

Keep me posted.

I installed Windows Installer CleanUp Utility and reinstalled WordPerfect but nothing changed.

If I purchase WordPerfect Office X4 how do I know that it will work any better?

Posted by B.Rath 346 days and 23 hours ago.

Answer

WordPerfect Office X4 is supposed to be fully compatible with Windows Vista ..so it might make a difference in the issue you are getting with X3. Before that, however, let's try another possible solution for the same, as follows:
Navigate To Computer > C: > Program Files > Corel > WordPerfect Office X3 > Template, could you specify if there's a 'Custom WP Templates' subfolder present?

I could only find a template in WP Office Ready. It said Buit-in templates.

Okay ..please go to Start and type in .WPT in the 'Start Search' box and click the 'Search Everywhere' option above; next, click on 'Advanced Search', and next to 'Locations', select 'Local Hard Drive C:' and click on 'Search' thereafter.
Does any file/s come up as a result?

I found a file: wp13US Custom WP Templates

Answer

Okay ..make sure that WordPerfect Office is not running, then delete the 'wp13US' file found ..check if the error message still persists now when you open up the program.

Keep me posted.

In that case, I'm afraid I have exhausted every resource I could think of, so I'm going to opt out and let some other expert take the issue further ..if possible.
