Question

I Am A Do It Your Selfer And I Have A OBDII Scaner And The Code On My 2005 GMC Envoy Is P0410 (Secondary Air Injestion System) .None Of My Manuals, Haynes Or Chiltons, Indicate The Code In There Manuals. Where Is The Best Place To Start?

Here are a few things to check out first...

- Low system airflow
- Excessive exhaust system back-pressure
- Pinched, restricted, split, or damaged pipes/hoses
- Restrictions in the AIR pump inlet hose
- Pitted contacts in the AIR pump relay, AIR solenoid relay--Tap on the AIR pump relay or AIR solenoid relay to attempt to duplicate an intermittent condition.
- Heat damage to the AIR outlet hose may indicate a shut-off valve failure
- Water or debris ingested into the AIR pump
- Yellow tinted water in the AIR pump or hoses may indicate a shut-off valve failure
- Frozen water in the AIR hoses that thaws during testing

 

Also, the #1 HO2S could be causing this code as well.

You can also try turning the key ON, with the engine OFF and listening for the AIR pump to run.
