It usually takes up to 8 months after stopping the shot for periods to return back to normal. If you haven't had a regular period since, then you will need to see your doctor. The most common cause would be a hormonal imbalance, so your doctor would need to draw some blood to check your levels, and give you something to correct the imbalance. Other causes could include stress, weight changes, infection, polyps, cysts, just to name a few. So I would make an appointment with your doctor for an evaluation.
