I was to have IVF embryo transfer done today but my fertility doctor found fluid in my uterus and recommended to freexe embryos and try again later. What is this fluid in the Uterus? Could it be because of my age 46?

Dear XXXXXX; Your age is a factor, of course, or you wouldn`t be in an IVF program. Fluid in the uterus is usually from the inability of the normal mucus poduction of the endometrial lining to escape through the cervix as normal. This is called cervical stenosis (narrowing) and is usually due to some previous procedure done to the cervix. The specialist should have inserted a small Teflon dilator through the cervix to allow for its escape and send the fluid for culture. good luck
